What the heck?

I am creating a quick little design that is about 4 inches square to put in a Sudberry box.  I pulled out gray, silver, black, white, shiny and matte threads.  I grabbed one of my stitch books and flipped to a page and stitched that stitch.  Progress so far using Gold Rush, Trebizond, Splendor, Kreinik and lots of other Rainbow Gallery.

Visions Giveaway

So many people on Facebook Needlepoint Nation have loved watching this one stitched.  This is the pattern book.  Even though the photo shown on the cover does not match what I stitched, I used all of the colors listed on the materials page and put the stocking on white canvas.  The book also has my notes in it for the choices I made.
You must leave a comment here on the blog to be entered into the giveaway.  Drawing will be on Sunday afternoon!
Good Luck!

The end

Next, the laced eyelets are now backstitched with a strand of Marlit and 2 ply of backstitches are in around the Double Fan Doubled.
Last, pearls were added around the Mistake stitch.

This piece is now finished.  Finishing decisions for this one!

Swing Stitch

The Swing Stitch is the last area on the toe that needed to be done.  Working with 5 different colors, it is worked side to side. The last open areas are long stitches with Kreinik.
Then, I have started adding the rest of the finishing touches.  DMC Fil is worked between the areas of perle on Theresicas section.

Closing in....

I did the box background with Perle, filled in the boxes with two rows of Kreinik and then backstitched the center.  More Kreinik created the crosses in the lines between them.  Last, vertical stitches of perle filled in above the square.  Just a bit more to go!

Done with 32

Finishing page 32 meant adding a diagonal row of stitches around the border, filling in the bottom of the flower garden with longs stitches, adding diagonal lines behind the Theresicas, and lastly a bead in the center of each one.    Page 32 started out by using a different thread for the cross stitches.  On the first pages of charts, these were drawn in and I assumed they were in the Perle.  Never assume!  LOL  I have ripped them all out and started this segment by correctly working them in the 1/16 ribbon.

Theresicas

Page 32 is all about the area of Theresicas-a mistake stitch of a Jessica.  These are worked with 1/16 ribbon.  Then a border of knitted plait cretes the border.

23, 29,30

Starting with page 23, I did the bottom border around the Fan Doubled Fan rectangle which are wrapped coils worked in Flair and filled in with gold Kreinik.  I had skipped it to wait until I was closer to this side.  Next, Jean has a Humdinger of a Sprat's Head worked in Perle.  Then over the top of it is another one using Kreinik.  The middle area between the two is filled in with beads.  (could  also have been just 2 straight stitches, but I wanted to do beads)

The Heel

I finished up the heel.  Yesterday I had in the 4 way continental with perle, the upright crosses with Kreinik, the waffle stitches over the top of those and had started the gold pattern between the continentals.  I finished up the gold pattern first.  Then beads are added at the top and sides of the waffle stitches.  Last, backstitches in Kreinik lay in next to the gold long stitches. This area was all worked in threads of your choice.

Center Sprat's Head

The Center Sprat's Head is all worked in 1/16 ribbon with three colors.  I have also started the heel section.  First I have laid in a 4 way Continental pattern.  Then Upright double crosses, and I am now working on the gold ribbon pattern in between the continentals with more to come!

Amadeus and a border

There are 4 small Amadeus in the triangle that are all worked with Kreinik.  Some legs are ribbon and some are #8.  It is surrounded by a backstitch of Bijoux.  The pink border is worked in long stitches that are tacked down with more Kreinik ribbon.

Finished Flower Garden

The Flower Garden section is complete!   DMC Fil  is worked in the center of the four regular Jessicas and into each one as rays as well as the center of the partial open and bud.  1/16 ribbon created the Rhodes stitches and filled into around the crescents that are worked with Perle.

The Flower Garden

This area is called the Flower Garden due to the shape of the three different Jessicas.  Working in Perle the one on the bottom right represents a bud and the one above it, partially open.  The four on the top left are the open flowers and I have worked the basketweave stitches with Kreinik so far.  More to come.
I stitch about 2 or maybe 2.5 hours everyday--I have been asked!  I would love to stitch even more but the usual home things  and other things take up that time!

Laced Eyelets

The next area is called Laced Eyelets and the eyelets are done in Perle.  The lacing is done with Kreinik braid.  The cross in the center is more metallic ribbon as are the tiny crosses between the eyelets.  The long straight stitches between the eyelets around the edges is Marlitt.

Time for an overall

Today is a shot of the overall stocking so far!  I have finished through pages 21 already!  This is going so fast!

Big Whopper

Jean calls this a Big Whopper of a Sprat's Head!  Look at all the color changes in this one.  Then below the Sprat is a curving ribbon.  It is first worked in Perle, then diagonal lines of Bijoux and filled in between those lines.  Last, basketweave in Kreinik to fill in the background.

Page 19

Before I started on page 19, I added the center stitches to the interlocking Jessicas in Kreinik.  The rectangular Double Fan Double was worked first using Perle.  The last 2 rounds are worked in Kreinik.  Then the overlapping crosses were worked with 4 different 1/16 ribbons.  Over one cross stitches are done in the corners with DMC Fil.  The outside border was worked with Perle and is a crossed upright straight stitch.  Finally the rectangle is outlined with 2 ply of Bijoux.

Interlocking Jessicas

This segment began with the interlocking Jessicas worked alternately with gold Kreinik and white Perle.  The outside and inner borders are more Perle and Kreinik ribbon.  The Jessicas overlap each other. They go over the bottom of the previous and under the top.  A lot of coffee drinking went into keeping these straight!

Nautilus Diamond

Pages 15 and 16 are this area which includes a Nautilus Diamond that is a 198 stitch diagram worked in Kreink.  Then Sprat's Heads are added in DMC Fil.  Next an outline stitch from the bottom left up to the top of the right stitches.  Last, a reverse pattern background is done in more Kreinik.

Diagonal Half Rhodes

I finished all of the beads on the Helen's Lace and moved onto page 12.  The diagonal half rhodes is worked with Splendor.  Then the rectangles are formed with Kreinik and the long diagonals are more Splendor.  DMC Fil is laid in long diagonal stitches around the border to complete that area.

Moving on to the next area.  I had to remove the large cross stitches that I had worked in Perle.  The original charts showed them filled in while I was outlining but the instruction page says to work them in Splendor.  It just took a few minutes to frog and fix.  Then upright crosses in Kreinik are worked over the top and a long row of diagonal stitches over one form the edge.

More on that

I finished all of the Helen's Lace.  Then diagonal knitted plaits in Perle #8 and I am now beading the spaces of the lace to finish this section.

Helen's Lace area

This area starts by finishing off the lower edge with diagonal stitches in the #5 Perle.  Then 2 strands of Bijoux went over the top diagonal.  Last, I set up the Helen's Lace pattern.  This area uses any or all of the threads we have used so far!  So there is many of the 1/16 ribbons, some Marlitt and some Bijoux.

Side Area

The sun came out today!  This is actually better colors!
First, all of the diamond lattice pattern is done with 2 strands of #12 Perle.  Then the gold filigree pattern was worked with DMC Fil inside of them and in the center of the box.  Cross stitches were placed over the intersections with 2 ply of Bijoux and then 1 x 4 crosses were placed over the lattice with one ply of the same Bijoux.  The Pinwheel Mistake stitch is worked with #8 Kreinik and then diagonal stitches worked around it with 1/16 ribbon.  This completes this area and page 10 is done!

So far

I went back and redid the Diamond Rhodes at the top to correct the stitch placement.  Thanks for pointing it out to me.  I followed the chart but it was not right so I fixed it.  Then I added the beads around the triangles in the first diagonal band with Mill Hill beads.  I then added the stitches in between the Continuous Scotch in the side area.  Next to the rectangle are more beads that are criss cross stitched into place using Delica beads this time.
